ARC2 Proxy FAQ

Frequent questions that we get from our customers about ARC2 Proxy Services.

This is a reverse proxy service that combines caching for both static and dynamic content through a CDN, helping to reduce load times and improve user experience. It also includes load balancing to evenly distribute traffic across servers, preventing bottlenecks. In addition, the service performs regular health checks to monitor server availability and reroute traffic when necessary, ensuring consistent performance and uptime. This solution simplifies infrastructure management while maintaining reliability and efficiency.

Whether you need this service depends on your specific use case, but it can provide valuable support in many situations. For example:

  • Handling traffic spikes: If your website experiences sudden increases in traffic, our reverse proxy service can balance the load across servers, preventing slowdowns or crashes.
  • Reducing cloud egress charges: By caching content, especially static assets, you can cut down on the amount of data transferred from your cloud provider, potentially lowering your egress costs.
  • Scaling issues or high scaling costs: If you’re struggling with scaling your infrastructure or facing high costs to do so, our service can help distribute traffic more efficiently and optimize resource usage, reducing the need for constant scaling.

In these and many other scenarios, our service can make a significant difference in both performance and cost management.

Unfortunately, the service never reached the scale needed to be commercially viable. As a result, we’re now offering its unused capacity completely free of charge to anyone who’d like to try it. By removing the price barrier, we hope to attract new users who might not have otherwise signed up. In turn, their real-world feedback will help us polish the product, uncover bugs, and identify feature gaps.

We currently have two main locations serving traffic: one in Canada (North America) and one in Germany (Europe). Soon, we’ll be adding more locations in Europe, including France, Poland, and the United Kingdom, as well as on the East and South Coasts of the United States. Our next expansion will focus on Asia, starting with India.
